Full list of Labour rebels. Special mention to Bob Marshall-Andrews and ex-minister Frank Dobson.

I was sure Blair would - somehow - get that clause through. I'm immensely glad that he didn't.

David Davis is actually quite dangerous when wielding a rusty meathook. Cameron did not come out of that well - I wonder if he's still the favourite to win?

I'm never likely to vote for either of 'em, but it'll be interesting to see where this one goes.

David Davis and David Cameron (the men who Would Be Prime Minister) will fight to the death in a televised arena grudgematch tonight, armed with rusty meathooks.

Well, ok, possibly not - but I still like the mental image. What we do get is the pair of them debating on a special Question Time, hosted by David Dimbleby. They'll be facing questions from the audience. BBC1, 10:35 UK time.

It should be interesting. Not quite up there with Bartlett vs Ritchie, but still... :)

Whitby.

Leaving now. See some of you there.

Just spotted that someone has posted "Grit", Moore's Daredevil spoof, on LJ. I do have a copy of the original issue (it's one of the Daredevils ones that also contained Captain Britain) somewhere, but despite promising to wave it at people, I've failed to find it for a while.

So...

Perhaps not entirely worksafe. :)

November 18th. £5 on the door.

The Jailhouse
Much Park St.
Coventry

It's part of the UK tour being arranged by Martin/oldgoth (Insanitorium) and it's a bargain, in my opinion. A chance to see Calfornia's TLD playing a local venue, support from Southampton's [livejournal.com profile] rbkisses and DJing by the Insanitorium team until the early hours.

See some of you Coventry goth (and 'not-exactly-goth') folk there? Coventry's been quiet lately and this strikes me as a very good use of £5 and a spare evening. It'd be nice to see a few other Midlands types there, too - it's been a while since we've had a proper gathering of the horde at the Jailhouse, so...

As posted to [livejournal.com profile] covgoths, the Vincent Razorbacks are playing the Jailhouse tomorrow.

Anyone planning to go?

Another day, another unfortunate PR incident for the US military - this time in Afghanistan. In front of an Australian news crew.

Old news to those who've been reading Slashgoth, but...

Goteki will be following up on the initial online/mp3 release and making their second album, 'Revolution' available on CD November 5th. Available via MNS and Resurrection Records.

[I liked Goteki O/S a lot - with the line-up/style changes since then, it'll be interesting to see just where the sound goes now...]

When you see this on your friends list, quote Shakespeare

"When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes." - Julius Caesar

"I am but mad north-north-west: when the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw." - Hamlet

"Mad world! mad kings! mad composition!" - King John

My brain hurts. Probably because I've spent all day writing the Wrong Things. I'm going to bed now. G'night.

Diamanda Galas covering Johnny Cash (among others).

I don't think I'm going to be there when she plays that set in the UK, but...

Yeah.

Today's soundtrack seems to be mostly cover versions.

Most recently, Rico's version of Psycho Killer and Johnny Cash's take on U2's One. Bit of a contrast there. :)

Not at my best today - too much cold and not enough Lemsip. Or sleep, for that matter. Hey ho. Life goes on.

The first season of Waking The Dead has finally been released on DVD.

I recall [livejournal.com profile] misstemperance commenting on the inexplicable lack of DVDs a while back - looks like the BBC have finally done something about it... :)

Various politicians and columnists seem to be talking about how swapping some civil rights for increased protection from terrorists is a fair trade.

There are lots of reasons why I don't agree with that, but here's one of the main ones: would it actually work? Has anyone got a case study, an example of a country that's actually done this and seen some tangible benefits as a result?

Because right now, I'm having real trouble thinking of one...

I see Michael Brown has just resigned his role as director of FEMA.

From the same article: "In the city, the bodies of 44 mostly elderly patients have been found dead in a flooded hospital"

Edit: Meanwhile, as many op-ed writers are discussing Katrina, Ann Coulter is spending her time writing about other matters. Such as her imaginary version of Teddy Kennedy's 'confidential communications with his lawyer the day after he drove Mary Jo Kopechne off a bridge at Chappaquiddick'. Read more... )

"Oh, and Kate Bush is making a comeback, which I would imagine means that Tori Amos will have to go into some kind of witness protection scheme."
