I appear to have killed my mobile phone. Or possibly just the battery. It's been on charge for most of the day, but every time I unplug it it switches off a couple of minutes later...

...not helpful.

I think it may be time for a productive weekend...

Gardening, tidying and generally sorting stuff out. But mostly gardening - there's a limit to how much house stuff I want to do when the bathroom's already in pieces!

Loud music.

Or lemsip and a nice warm bath.

Sometimes it's a tough choice.

I'll hand in my goth card now, shall I?

Deadfilmstar + Pro-jekt + Zeitgeist Zero + Hell Raised + Wrapped in Plastic

At Three Tuns, Coventry

Price: £3.00

Which, let's be honest, is a bargain. I'm not the greatest fan of Deadfilmstar - just not my thing, really - but Pro-Jekt and Zeitgeist Zero are always fun.

So, who's going?

Bah.

Sleeping here is going to be awkward for a day or two.

Too much plaster dust, even with the damp weather and the doors between bathroom and bedroom closed... :-/

Well, that was fun. Plot holes you could drive a truck though, but fun. :)

Infest seems to have been interesting this year. Not sure if I'll be going next year. I'd quite like to, but there's a large chunk of me that's just not up for the party-party-party side of it these days.

If I'm going, it's for the people and the music - and I'm going to be relatively sober for the duration. Now, admittedly, relatively sober is a loaded term at Infest... but you know what I mean.

On a similar note, Afterparties are fun, but I do actually need some sleep... and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to sleep late in the mornings...

Hmm. Something to think about later.

Back to work. Gah. :-/

Hellboy II. 9PM tomorrow, Skydome.

This is the plan.

There are alternatives - but the Showcase (which has earlier evening showings) is more awkward to get to (especially for those who want noodles first), and the 6PM Skydome showing is a little too early for me.

I appear to be able to kill horseradish. Or at least make it severely unwell. Given that it's supposed to be "invasive" and almost impossible to eradicate, that's not bad going.

Unfortunately, I was trying to keep it alive. Ah well.

I suspect the problem is all this unseasonal rain - it hadn't been repotted since it arrived and it looked a bit waterlogged. It's now been moved to a bigger pot, packed with different compost. Hopefully, it'll recover.

Um.

A YouTube video for VNV Nation's Illusion, as pointed out by [profile] mr_pete...

That's rather good. And just a little bit haunting.

...I'm not going this year. We've already established that bit.

But a whole bunch of you are... so, what are your plans for the weekend? What are you looking forward to? What are you likely to regret on Monday morning? :-)

If they still have the mp3 jukebox in the bar, btw, then you know what to do. Play weird stuff at people who are still recovering from last night's hangover. Personally, I recommend Diamanda Galas, Johnny Cash and anything with bagpipes, but that's just me... :)

...y'know, I am so out of touch with music these days. Or possibly I'm just fuzzy brained.  [profile] jambon_gris mentioned Pendulum earlier this evening and I couldn't place them at all - wasn't even sure I knew the name...

Having visited MySpace to check... yes, yes, I really do know their work. My brain finally kicked into gear about ten seconds into Propane Nightmares,  doing the "and you've heard this several dozen times..." thing.

Heh.

...as per previous post, it opens tomorrow. There is, as mentioned, a tentative plan to see it at the weekend - I'm guessing it'll be an evening, as Elaine's talking about DIY and I'm considering gardening...

So, who's about in Cov and potentially interested?

Somehow, I'd failed to notice that there was a new Diana Wynne Jones book out (until [personal profile] lurkingcat pointed it out to me) - House of Many Ways, a sequel (of sorts) to Howl's Moving Castle...
