So. I'm not terribly fond of Marvel's "Avengers Disassembled" crossover. It just seems to be killing minor characters for shock value and/or "the hell of it". Possibly as some sort of substitute for a coherent plot.

And then they advertise it with this...

Wow. I mean... how tacky is that? Especially as it's pretty clear that about half of the remaining characters - the ones with their own books and/or movies, basically - aren't going to suffer any permanent harm.

The 'funny' tone of the epitaphs doesn't help much either.

Still not impressed.

They marked him "injured or insane". Perhaps he got irked by the concept too.

I think "mysteriously drunk" is probably the best description I've heard.

And as he's about to get a high-profile relaunch with Warren Ellis at the helm, I reckon the worst he'll be suffering during this crossover is an equally mysterious hangover...

Hehehe...and the artist is the husband of a friend of mine! And I have to admit the art I've seen for the comic already is pretty damn stunning! *perk*

Tacky is the mot juste, all right. I don't care for the "screw this ensemble shit, we don't care about minor characters" attitude either.
