I figured that thanksgiving and hunting season are the two coolest things going on in America in november. From your response it seems that you don't hunt. So give me both responses. serious and witty. Perhaps we could do a two pronged banter/debate. It might be fun.

We Britons don't tend to hunt unless we've a lot more upper-class than I am. And even if I were, I wouldn't.

But I know better than to get involved in a hunting/weapons debate online, so I'll hide behind the Tom Lehrer song on the topic. Cowardly, me? Yes.

I've got alot of british friends. It's kind of funny. whenever they come over, one of the things we have to schedule is a trip out to a friends farm to shoot guns. First time we take them out they are nervous, but the next time they come to the states, they are insistent. I believe that guns are like pornography to brits. my canadian friens are the same way. its funny to see this british girl I know hammering away at a friend of mine with a paintball gun, laughing like a maniac.

Paintball and airsoft are a very different issue from hunting, though, aren't they? Even more so than guns in general, imho.

I did a little rifle-shooting when I was young, and was never that struck on it. I'd quite like to have another go at crossbow (target) shooting some day, but that's the sum total of my interest in such things.

Well normally she uses the .22, the sks (before I sold it), and the shotgun. The paintball gun was just a game. It was hilarious to see dan cowering behind the outhouse while a demonically laughing british girl painted it bright green. She loves to eat my venison. and has shown an interest in getting one herself. her main worry is any emotional reaction she might have. I told her about emotional reactions friends have told me about, from just being excited, to violent trembling, to worry, to horrific guilt. we'll see if she ever comes to the states during hunting season.
