I have sofas. They're very comfortable.

This is an improvement on the previous state of my lounge. :)

These things are good for you: open space, sunlight, floorspace and a lack of clutter. Cool air. A nice breeze. An early night now and then.

When properly combined, they make a massive difference to your state of mind.

Applied for my own job today. We'll see how that goes. Work is a little bit hectic right now.

I've also managed to break one lens of my glasses in half. Careless. Really not sure how I did it - it means I'll be wearing contacts far more than I'd like for the next few days.

DM of the Rings finishes this week.

It's had some lovely moments, but my favourite may still be this one. Heh.

Warning: Contentious subject matter.

I may be missing something, but I still fail to understand how the two are compatible. Anyone out there care to share an opinion on this?

Ramblings... )

It's now officially Monday. Infest is over.

I have beer. :)

That was what was missing - the fun. :)

Enjoyed Rupesh Cartel, really enjoyed VNV Nation, spent too much money on trousers. Ooops.

Say what you like, VNV are great showmen - and Ronan does banter. There wasn't much of that at Infest, aside from their set. I'd missed it.

Two encores. A few tracks from Judgement. A lot of hands in the air. I needed that. :)

Infest. Day the second. Or the first full day, if you want to look at it that way.

...and in the beginning, there was breakfast. Although I'm sorry to report that the Bradford Hilton no longer serves haggis. On the plus, side they do still offer porridge with treacle and whisky...

Later in the day there were bands, there were numerous heartfelt apologies to Jed Phoenix (after trying on a pair of trousers proved too complicated for a certain person...) and there was silliness.

Still not entirely in the mood for a festival, but Apoptygma Berzerk were certainly worth seeing - as were Synnack and Thirteenth Monkey. The Apoptygma cover of House of Love's Shine On was a nice touch, too.

More later. Sleep now.

So, here I am, in Bradford for Infest. Haven't really seen any bands yet, though - caught a bit of Greyhound last night, but I was just too hot and tired from travelling, so wasn't exactly in any state to appreciate 'em.

Felt much better after breakfast today. Off to the venue in a moment, with [livejournal.com profile] dmh, [livejournal.com profile] emarkienna and poor, PSP-addicted [livejournal.com profile] mrbear. There shall be mp3 jukebox carnage, shopping, socialising and possibly some music.

Speaking of which, the Kronos Quartet seem to be playing Lux Aeterna at me via [livejournal.com profile] mrbear's mobile phone ringtone. Disturbing...

Looks like [livejournal.com profile] infest_uk may get retired soon - [livejournal.com profile] infest_info seems to be doing the same sort of thing now.

Broad beans, fried with pancetta and served with a few halved cherry tomatoes.

Very quick, very simple. Mmmm. :)

So, RTD is supposedly leaving Dr Who at some point soon. And the Daily Mail - which may or may not be wrong - says...

"writer Steven Moffat, who is reportedly taking over as Dr Who's executive producer"

Apparently Moffat has since stated that the Nesbitt aspect of that story is rubbish - without commenting about whether or not the bit about him is true...

Fingers crossed, hmm?

Right. One bottle of cider somewhen this weekend, Then no more alcohol 'til after Infest.

I need some sleep and sobriety to recharge my batteries, 'cos I'm starting to feel that I'm washed out and running on fumes.

Soho Dolls - Coventry Colosseum, Sat 6th October

...as spotted on their MySpace gig listing.

Might be of interest to a few people reading this. While they're not strictly goth, they did play the Whitby Gothic Weekend in April, after all... :-)

Sometimes I see things and I just have to share them with you...

Mostly, they seem to involve unfortunate typos. :)

Bethesda Softworks, creators of the Elder Scrolls games, are working on Fallout 3.

I should probably be saying "ow" a lot, but I'm actually feeling fine today. Elaine (WISNOLJ) has been celebrating her birthday for the last couple of days - Friday night was the Medieval Banquet at Coombe Abbey, yesterday was an all-day party and barbecue.

Much fun was had. Elusive taxis seem to have been a theme. There was mead. And Pimms. Friday had more singing. Yesterday had more meat in buns. And also some rum.

We also learned that some yaks may actually be chickens in disguise. I'm assuming that this doesn't include [livejournal.com profile] drivenapart, but you never can tell...

Mead. Wine. Food with knives. "So, you mean I wasn't supposed to drink that?!" Good singing, poor songs.

Fun with taxis. Fruit crumble. Stocks. Incriminating photographs.

And [livejournal.com profile] mister_jack on the dancefloor for Robbie Williams' Let Me Entertain You, armed with a dangerous codpiece.

'Nuff said. Sleep now. :)

This weekend has featured silliness, [livejournal.com profile] purplebenji, Nottingham, [livejournal.com profile] steve_winolj, fun with doublet and hose, [livejournal.com profile] mister_jack watching cowboys... and too many conversations about suspenders. With or without cassocks.

I'm going to bed now. When I wake up, it will be Monday. And everything will be normal again, right? :)
