More new acquisitions for the garden...

...well, ok, that's not strictly true. For the most part, they're replacements for the plants that didn't survive winter. But still, definitely looking forward to their arrival in the next couple of days. :)

I'm now expecting delivery of the following:

• French Tarragon (replacement for the pot that didn't quite survive winter indoors...)
• Garlic chives (new!)
• Tashkent mint
• Wormwood (new! And mostly not for culinary purposes. Honest...)
• Myrtle (replacement for the bush that died in the cold snap...)
• Wild Chicory (new!)
• Fennel (replacement for a winter casualty)
• Rock Samphire (replacement for a winter casualty)

The big question, of course, is how much I'll actually use 'em. I'll certainly find uses for the mint (I can always find more uses for mint) and the wild chicory (if only for nibbbles - get nugget of blue cheese, wrap in chicory leaf, scoff parcel as a snack...).

Most of the others have more of a learning curve. The key point being keeping the plant alive and vigorous long enough to learn - most of the losses were plants that only arrived in late summer last year; the exceptions were the tarragon and samphire, which had limped along for a bit and never been quite healthy enough to use in the quantities I'd wanted.

So... this time I need to do a little better. Plant them out (where applicable...), make sure they get the conditions to thrive... and make sure I've got some recipes ready to use 'em when they do. Fingers crossed. :)

To be fair, I've had salad with wormwood in. Once. It was memorable.

But I probably wouldn't want to try it at home. :)
