This is what has happened to my grandmother, except it's not her hands but her eyes. It makes me quite sad when I hear of somebody whose favourite beautiful thing to do is exactly the thing that time took.

Not actually the case. Morph was (and is) an Aardman Animations creation - I think he's still appearing in children's TV today.
