mrphNot a bad day, so far. I have herbs. Well, ok, more herbs.
Other than that, today has mostly involved work, clearing my garden and plotting with the guy who's refurbishing my bathroom. Things are taking shape..
While I was out at work, the wonderful Jekka's Herb Farm delivered...
(The slightly less wonderful City Link managed to turn one box upside down, but the herbs appear to have survived)
Now I just need to get the garden into a state where I can plant everything. There are a few more things I'll be getting next year - dill, parsley, borage, chervil, another sage and another mint - and I do need to replace the bay tree that's just been mangled, but I figure this is a pretty good start for a herb garden. All of the basic perennials, plus a couple of interesting and more slightly unusual things...
Now I just need to keep them growing. In particular, the Marjoram and French Tarragon have a reputation for needing a little extra care over winter - frost isn't kind to them.
On the other hand, as previously mentioned, some of them need escape-proof enclosures. I'm thinking of the mint, sorrel and horseradish, all of which are famously invasive...
