Not at all! Rock, pop, hip-hop, whatever are now totally mainstream, selling far more recordings than classical does. To watch classical music in the 21st century reveals you as a true freethinker and an independent spirit.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Proms. I went when I was 17 and still listen to it on the internet radio.

Classical music is good and these days, as alternative as you can get.
