Sometimes, life just seems to imitate Father Ted. With added turkey...

I've just encountered Ireland's Eurovision entry.

Words... fail me...

It's very simple: Ireland don't want to win ever again, that's why their entries have been rubbish the last few years.

Oddly enough, Ireland is one of the favourites this year...

Dustin the Turkey is a wonderful embassador for Our fabulous country.. I will not hear another word said against him..

A history of Dustin:
When he first joined the Irish Kids tv show the den he was masquerading as a Bald Eagle as it was coming up to christmas and he didn't want to be someone's dinner.

His alleged day job is as a builder.. favourite phrase at the time was four be four (a plank of wood is four by four etc).

He ran for president of Ireland. Despite not actually being on the ballot he got 2% of the vote.. seriously.. 2% of people that voted wrote his name on their ballot and ticked him.

The song is dreadful.. but it was going to be chosen as well the vote was on a saturday nigth after a rugby match. People were drunk and in a humourous mood.. they did the texting :o)

I'll see your Ireland and I'll raise you an Estonia.

I was killing some time before the Daily Show came on at 8.30 and I happened to catch the Estonian entry on Eurovision while flicking through the channels.

It's like Benny Hill in a foreign language.

Well, yes it was aweful - but it is a Eurovision song - what do you expect.

It did make me laugh for several reasons - not least of which is that the name will cause problems when announcing the results :-).

Is anybody doing a Eurovision party?
