Is there some sort of issue with renaming an LJ account and findng that you've been automatically unfriended by people?

Have just noticed that a number of people have renamed their LJs and are no longer on my friends list, but with no intervention from me...

Edit: Oh, so it's meant to do that? Why?!

If I remember correctly, you can choose whether or not to keep your friends/communities and friend-of lists when you rename your account.

It's meant to do that so you can gently disconnect from all those people you're trying to avoid by renaming your account. Duh.

I did it to lose a dozen troublemakers (a nasty clique), but it turned out quite a few on my erstwhile flist didn't spot The Warning Post I made.

Yup. Because as soon as the rename goes through, the Warning Post isn't on a journal included on their Friends page any more... *sigh*

This is what seems to have happened to me a couple of times.

I thought I made a warning *beforehand*, but now I think of it, of course they won't have seen in it unless they were looking betweentimes.

I kept people friended, but fell off *their* lists when I renamed mine.

I s'pose I should unfriend then refriend everyone who didn't notice, but that has felt like a bit of a wierd thing to do.
