Ditto. Great stuff. Made me wonder just how much I actually like the Dr and Martha. Came to the conclusion that I don't like them much, and preferred their minimal involvement in this episode.
It's what they were trying to do last year with Love and Monsters - although this time it actually worked...
Someone (Moffat? RTD?) was quoted as saying that it's far easier to do the creepy stuff when the Doctor's not there. As soon as he appears, you know the bad guys are in trouble. When you're not watching regular characters and they've got no back-up, anything could happen to 'em...
That makes sense - if you think about the old "horror" based stories, the Dr sort of turns up halfway through, or the scenes with the monsters in are usually done before the doctor really gets into the story - Image of Fendahl being one.
