In answer to the first two comments on the last post...
a) I'm not surprised, b) I think they're about to have an unpleasant experience with a wallpaper stripper, c) I think I've seen it... bah! and d) No comment whatsoever.
I went from one extreme to the other about four years ago. I've been grade-two back-n-sides and cropped on top ever since.
The bugger is I didn't initially realise the huge cost of having short hair. You have to have expensive stuff like gel and, most expensive of all, you have to keep having it cut every other month at the best part of a tenner a throw. Whereas my hair had previously been kept in condition simply by allowing the grease to build up between crimpings.
I think the dressed up and posing shot looks silly and you actually look much better in the 'after' one :o) Although, I've yet to see you in person with your new lack of hair and it's always hard to judge from pictures.
Put it this way - I didn't go *arrrrrrrrrrgh!* when I saw the after, so that must be a good sign. A bad haircut produces as shocked reaction and your short hair didn't.
I'm increasingly fond of it, but as aoakley says, you forget just how much work short hair can be... although hair that dries so quickly does make showers simpler. :)
