Current Music: He was the drummer in Southern Death Cult, as I`m sure you know ;-)
I was the murderer in Oh! What a Lovely War once. Concluding a certain amount of precognitive typecasting that began aged 7 when I was cast as "Grumpy" on snow white & the 7 dwarves, moving through a highly succesful period of being "town drunk" in The Beggars opera. A headline performance as "the grumpy old man" in The Rivals cut short due to Glandular Fever alas.
I might have to check that out. I`ve got a fair bit of their back catalogue which in parts fits the "Asian Public Enemy" tag quite well, and in other bits is just exquisite exotic music. I`ve also got a few bits of the Peoples Front of Judea spin off Detri-Mental which has moments but isn`t quite so good. A lot of the earlier stuff, whilst undeniably excellent does occasionally catch me when I listen closely in a "you`ve just called me a c**t, haven`t you?" moment.
Theres a Fun-da-mental remix album that for no seeming purpose other than to please me has a Jesus and Mary Chain remix on it.
The other bit of the extended family tree is 2nd Gen who is ex Fun-da-Mental and does INCREDIBLE broken hip hop / blues / industrial soundscapes to lose yourself in, and produced the second Leechwoman album.
Other bands of similar ilk that I find myself hurling myself round the front room to when I think no-ones looking are Asian Dub FOundation and DUb Pistols, both of whom have moments of great merit.
Another band I *really* like, on a tangent of middle eastern aesthetics though it`s not exactly easy listening, is Muslimgauze which manages to be deeply political despite being essentially instrumental due to interesting sound collages / song titles and is sort of a middle eastern coil meets Aphex Twin racket. One of those bands who have been knockig out about 10 releases a year since the early 80s, which always impresses me no end - though as a result, individual releases tend to be quite samey in and of themselves, but across the catalogue theres a real range.

...which amused me no end.
[In all honesty, I wouldn't have picked up the new album so soon if it wasn't for the fuss and publicity. It's rather good]
