Today has been good, for a number of reasons. Most recently a very fine evening at mister_jack's place, watching Eurovision in good company. With cats.

"We are a rock band and we just won Eurovision - that's weird" - Lordi.

'Nuff said.

Opinion on Doctor Who was mixed. mister_jack and jambon_gris both think it was by far the weakest thing so far, in either season. I wasn't impressed, but I'm not sure it's that bad - some nice moments, but the cliffhanger resolution was clumsy and some parts of the ending were predictable and/or mawkish. Still think it's better than the Slitheen story in season 1, though.

I thought the Who episode was an absolute heap of steaming dog turds, and felt like it was directed by a traffic warden. Tennant's performance is as cringing as the amateurish scripts and recycled stories. The bloody music as well - sounds like horrible stuff from music libraries! I actually stopped watching when they had the crappy "Rose getting nostalgic" scene at the end. It made me long for Silver Nemesis.

I just kept wishing for one of the cybertriggers to grab Rose by the hoop earings and pull her head off.

Tennant was ok. There were some nice ideas for scenes. But I'd agree about the music and the direction - the pacing was (as mentioned by ankaret) pretty weak, too.

But it was still better than the Slitheen episode.

I thought the scene where Mickey was on the screen watching was pretty excruciating (Both in terms of the acting & the actual story/script) - and that terribly excited whine he does is very stilted. Then again, with scripts of this "quality" maybe it's not his fault.

I did actually like the bit where they crept down the corridor, but it was bodged by the sudden awakening and the incredible distance that suddenly appeared between the Doc and the Cybermen. Very poor.

Ugh. Slitheen. Having said that, it's like comparing turds and their smell:-0

It reminds me of a 70's serial. The dialogue was bland and expositional. It was too busy describing the scene and pointing the audience towards the next scene that it didn't leave room for the characters to breathe.

The ending was classic 80's, conceived of the notion that anyone can hack a system by typing quickly enough. How handy of the system that it should purposely highlight when the right numbers were chosen, so much like Wargames.

The Slitheen episode was blatantly for children, so was this one. I guess that this is an editorial decision.

The plot described in the trailer for next week's episode does seem remarkably similar to this weeks. Would you agree?

I liked Rose's alternadad not being able to cope with what she was saying to him, but I thought the pacing was a bit off.

Cybermen are better than Slithereen but thats not saying much. They never were that exciting if you ask me though. Should have had cybermats. It was fairly dire though.

I was wonderead about Lordi and I still do not uderstand how to Dima Bilan has taken the second place. Thee is Russia it not so love, it is pleasant only shcoolgirls and to some students. Probably the Eurovision is a greater fiction!
