It's a game. Point and click to use items or activate things, sometimes with a deadline before your last action undoes itself. (To start things off, you need to click on the dog once the opening animation stops)

For chapter 1, yes. Haven't paid for the full version myself, not sure I will - but I did like what there was an awful lot. :)
