Photography rant
Feb. 7th, 2002 02:02 pmI know many people who really don't like being photographed. I can quite understand this, as I'm one of them (although these days I'm not usually fussed enough to do anything but shrug and bear it). I don't take photos of people who ask me not to.
If I do end up with a photo of you, and you're not happy with this, let me know. It won't see the light of day. And as a rule, I never post photos without consulting all the subjects first, anyway. But, as far as I'm concerned, that's all there is too it.
I get very unhelpful and antagonistic if people then start asking me to destroy a film because there's a photo of them on it. Tough. If I've said it will be binned, it will be binned. Yammering on about it beyond that point implies that I'm not trustworthy, which offends me, and implies that the other umpteen pictures on the same film are of no consequence.
And, on a vaguely similar note, if I'm taking a photo and someone decides to clown around and stick a hand over the lens at the last minute, I don't usually think it's very funny. If I wanted to waste my film on a blurred photo of some fingers, I'd do it myself.
End rant. Now, where's the decaf?
