Feb. 11th, 2005 10:33 amSo. I've got some free time (well, at least in theory...) so I'm doing a little research on this year's Beyond The Veil bands. As you do.
Not that I really need to research The Last Days of Jesus or Murder at the Registry. :)
I'm currently a bit sidetracked by the mp3 samples on Violent Stigmata's page. I'm not quite sure how to describe them... a definite splash of insanity (Cut The Flesh Wires drifts close to TLDoJ territory), hints of deathrock (especially on the "Progénitures, Suite & Fin" tracks - something like Legacy would fit right in at a deathrock night, IMHO), occasional growly vocals (Brown Jenkin), moments where they make me think of a very twisted London After Midnight on interesting drugs... (Parasite). And, er, Sleeping People makes me think of Ultravox (circa All Stood Still) and Visage...
Possibly my brain's just in a very strange place. Anyway, it's all rather good stuff.
Anyway, moving swiftly on... Poland's Agonised By Love also have a rather nice site. But the mp3s are on myspace, currently down for routine maintenance. Bah. Will check back later.
Sui Generis Umbra look like they're a little bit metallic and don't have any mp3s on their site. Look interesting, though.
...and pretty much the same things can be said of Opened Paradise. Although probably with a little more goth-rock emphasis and a little less metal.
That just leaves the known (and much liked) quantities and the UK bands... which will probably be another post.
[Edit- Deviant UK. Hmm. Yes. I like...]
So, which of you lot are going to BTVIII anyway?
