I've just watched Get Carter again. It's still good. And bleak. Mustn't forget the bleak bit.

I've also just watched the "international trailer" for Get Carter, for the very first time. It's excruciating. The voiceover itself is bad, but as if that weren't enough you also get to see pretty much all of the various killings - all the way up to a minute or so before the end. Which pretty much removes the "whodunnit" element from it.

Still, not a bad way to finish Christmas Day, I guess. :)

It's indeed very bleak and I like it because of that, especially the ending.
Trailers that give too much away suck and Making of things are even worse before you've seen the film in question.

Yup.

I still haven't seen the Stallone remake, btw, but a quick google confirms that they've changed the ending... :-(

When I first watched it, I kept on wondering where the bleakness was. Then towards the end it started and then fell off a cliff into total and complete darkness. One of Michael Caine's great roles. Few films manage such a change and get away with it.

I guess that means I have to go watch it... right? I'll add it to the list :)
