...I've just been skimming the forum, which is running a poll on bands for 2005. Some interesting stuff in there - Bella Morte, Voltaire and Diamanda Galas are among the options.

Not so many from the UK, though - The Chameleons are listed (but haven't they split now?), as are All About Eve (...), Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and Skeletal Family. But out of the post-80s 'scene' UK bands you might expect to be listed, I can see just four: Earth Loop Recall, Inkubus Sukkubus, the Scary Bitches and Killing Miranda.

The organisers clearly state that the poll results aren't binding... but they also point out that the list of bands in the poll is based on suggestions on the forum. So if a band's listed, that's because people have already made some noise about wanting to see them there.

(oh, and the dates are confirmed as 13-16th May. [livejournal.com profile] mystery13, [livejournal.com profile] drivenapart - you've got no excuse for not starting to make plans now... :)

Oh, I don't think I need to do that. It's Leipzig. There are 140+ bands. There will be whole days of high-quality bleep, for those who want it.

The poll has a long list of synthpop/EBM/electro bands, including most of the usual suspects. I'd bet on Neuroticfish, for a start - with the new album on the way it's almost certain they'll be there.

The shortcut to it (it's in the forum section of the site) is here. There are a lot of bands listed... but then the WGT has a lot of bands, of course... :)

I'll definitely have to make it along again next year.

RBN are mentioned in the "other bands" thread on that poll...

Aha, hadn't spotted that. I was a bit surprised not to see you under R, but that probably explains it!

"Not binding". In other words it'll be a typical waste of time chasing that one up UK style and wasting your energied getting people to vote for your band. Which in true brit self-defeating mode will only split the vote further.

I don;t hold out much hope TBH. The german bands think they have a divine right to play over here for extortionate amounts of money, but try and get a foothold in their scene...ohh no no no,.

Sadly the anglophiles over there are as badly divided as here.

True. Still, they may pay some attention - and I think they'd be mad not to include that disclaimer, especially with acts like the Sisters of Mercy (...at an event with 'goth' in the name...?) and the various defunct bands on the list.

Fingers crossed, regardless.
