US music industry weirdness
Nov. 15th, 2002 04:08 pmInteresting piece. I'm no great fan of Craig David's music (you'd guessed that already, right? :), but...

It hadn't even occurred to me that this might be an issue. Odd, and unsettling.

Like you can have an all black radio station - thats not racist, but heaven forbid a station that play all white music, because that would be racist :(
It's bloody rediculous.
I tired of hearing about the same old same old, double standards these days, and the bloody stereotypes (which I know is hard, and I still do it to some people - but that because they _are_ the stereotype ;))
Why can't an R+B band (or whatever CD is) have a white guitarist? I mean, Eminem is white (*gasp*) and he raps and is fairly good at it, why can't a 'black' band not have a white guitarist...surely it's the music that counts at the end of the day...?
Sorry, not wanting to go on about or get involved in this sort of thing, but it does piss me off. I thought this was a first world country, but sometimes it reminds me of the place I left :(
Well, arguably it is a first world country...
