Interesting piece. I'm no great fan of Craig David's music (you'd guessed that already, right? :), but...

It hadn't even occurred to me that this might be an issue. Odd, and unsettling.

Goodness...no, it hadn't occurred to me, either. But he's already done better over there than any other UK Garage act...I think he can probably safely ignore that - for the moment, at least.

Oh, and -
"Look at what's happened to Robbie Williams. He's making anodyne ballads so Americans will take notice of him."

...I don't really need to say it, do I? ~g~

The quote I find worrying is this:

"David told BBC Radio Five Live he found it "disappointing that there was still this slight sense of racism going on over there". "

I wouldn't quite describe it as a "slight sense". Cuts both ways I guess. Still well done for him on not sacking his guitarist just because of his skin colour.

Welcome to the real world... :(
You'll find in life that there is one thing for some folks and a whole different thing for others.
Like you can have an all black radio station - thats not racist, but heaven forbid a station that play all white music, because that would be racist :(
It's bloody rediculous.
I tired of hearing about the same old same old, double standards these days, and the bloody stereotypes (which I know is hard, and I still do it to some people - but that because they _are_ the stereotype ;))
Why can't an R+B band (or whatever CD is) have a white guitarist? I mean, Eminem is white (*gasp*) and he raps and is fairly good at it, why can't a 'black' band not have a white guitarist...surely it's the music that counts at the end of the day...?

Sorry, not wanting to go on about or get involved in this sort of thing, but it does piss me off. I thought this was a first world country, but sometimes it reminds me of the place I left :(

Well, arguably it is a first world country...

Um, yeah, but it's not an issue here, is it? At least not for Craig David, who's got this far with the current band without anyone in the UK commenting. Same goes for So Solid Crew - being a mixed black/white outfit doesn't seem to cause them any credibility problems in the UK.

Not all the time, but there are a couple things that make me wonder :(
(not that I am racist you understand - well, I hate every one ;))
