Life, existence, sleep...

It seems everyone completely forgot Kay's birthday on the 15th, which is embarrassing (but at least partly intentional on his part, from the looks of it). He's 42 this year. Funny how that doesn't seem nearly as old as it used to - he must have been 31 when we met. It really doesn't feel like it's been over a decade. I guess time plays that kind of trick on you when you're not looking.
The Calling was fun.. what there was of it, anyway.
People in attendance this time included ciphergoth,
araqnid, plus (of course)
kboyd and
gothslut. I'd arranged to turn up by train, then get a lift back as far as Peterborough with DaveH, crash at his place and make my way back to Cov in the morning. So, of course, I got there to find a carload of Cov/Lex goths, who'd have offered me a lift there if they'd known I was going (Richard Branson must make a small fortune out of me... :). As it was, they still had a spare space and offered me a lift back. Arrangements were revised accordingly. Much dancing was done, much fun was had... and then the plumbing died.
At which point we all got turfed out. Not wanting to head back quite so soon, our driver detoured to a happily crazed gathering at kboyd/Patrick/Graham's place. Much fun was had by all. Red wine, pringles, pizza and cashew nuts also featured. Which meant that we eventually got home at 5AM.
I got up again at 7AM. Sleep is just a lifestyle choice, I tell you.
Wednesday night was Coventry's new goth night, NecroscopE (yes, the last E is meant to be capitalised - it's a style thing, they say). DaveH turned up and got rather drunk, as did Iain, Mr Tim and a few other Cov mainstays. Generally a bit quiet, though - I imagine the numbers will dramatically increase when it shifts to Fridays in a month or so.
Thursday was, well, dull.
Friday wasn't much better. I got home to discover that a certain lodger had gone away for the weekend, and hadn't left any rent money behind. Grr. Completely failed to make it out to WF for Steve G's birthday celebration, too. :(
Saturday consisted of lunch at Browns with Kay, Jus, Jon Harley, C&C and a couple of the other usual suspects. We completely failed to notice Mr Tim and some other Warwick gothfolk having lunch a few tables away, it seems. Ooops. Fortunately, this was mutual.
Then I finally got a chance to visit Inspire, one of Cov's newer food'n'booze places. The name is a pun, as it's built into the base of an old church spire. And it's really rather nice - lots of Belgian (Leffe, assorted Chimay variants, Delirium Tremens), Indian, Japanese and other imported beers. Good cheap food. Great atmosphere. Goth friendly. Hmm. I think I have a new haunt. :)
And from then on, life has mostly been sleep, reading and listening to a couple of new CD's. I figure there are worse ways to spend a weekend. :)
