I'd actually planned to be up and out bright and early, but this didn't happen. It just seemed much easier to keep punching the snooze button instead. Until noon. In the end, it wasn't the alarm that forced me into life - it was the car sound effects and (far louder) irregular shouts of "FUCK IT!!!" (which really do deserve three exclamation marks) from [livejournal.com profile] sartori666's room that finally motivated me. Someone's just bought a new computer game, I suspect...

That was when I discovered that the sugar and milk had run out. As had the mayonnaise (which is funny, y'know, as I'm sure I had a large/new jar of it in the fridge...). On top of all this, the constant car acceleration noises were swiftly driving me mad, inducing a really nasty headache. Now I remember why I don't like watching the grand prix.

So, off into town for shopping. Very minimalist shopping, mind you - just topping up the essentials. But followed by lots of window shopping in bookshops, as that's always fun and seemed like a good way to kill time. Within thirty seconds I'd gravitated to the 'Foreign Travel' section.

I seem to have acquired a definite wanderlust. The travel bug has bitten me but, unfortunately, it's also savaged my wallet (curses, foiled again). So I was sensible didn't end up spending any money on Lonely Planet guidebooks, but I do intend to purchase some at a later date, and to go North next summer - a week or three touring Scandinavia, probably.

Greenland is also very tempting, but it seems that a working knowledge of Danish (and probably a car, plus plenty of experience of driving on snow) is required to get by, so that can wait.

Having done all this, I finally wandered back to the house, only to be greeted by more loud acceleration noises (no, that's not a euphemism. Although perhaps it ought to be). I suspect this is why I don't have a PC/PS2 in my bedroom. It just wouldn't be good for me.

And, of course, I still need a job. If only so that I can spend my days worrying about something other than household supplies and other people's Playstation addictions. *sigh* I guess it might help to fund the travel (and the house repairs, of which more later), too...
