This gardening thing...

I'm not entirely sure I have the patience for it. Or at least not for the first bit - watching a pot full of soil, hoping that sooner or later something green will surface and keep growing...

I'd pretty much given up on the pot of chives that's now sitting on the patio. No signs of life for, oh, at least a week...

The first green tips were visible this evening. Heh. And since they're supposedly a hardy perennial, I shouldn't need to plant any more of 'em for a few years. Well, ok, not unless I kill this batch...

Damnit, my chives never germinated. (Admittedly the seeds were 3 years old and unlikely to still be alive.)

The key is to stop caring about them, then they sprout. Except the ones that are dead.

Bunged mine in the garden years ago and they come up all big every year, they have lovely purple flowers later in the summer as well.

Our herb garden ran wild - we have a massive fennel plant & a huge rosemary bush. I think there are chives there somewhere as well! We have to keep cutting the Rosemary back. Smells gorgeous when we do.
