The Watchmen trailer is now available online.

...um, it doesn't appear to obviously suck. In this context, from me, that's relatively high praise. They might actually succeed in making a Watchmen film I won't rant against for months on end.

Maybe.

At the very least... it's going to look damn stylish. Doctor Manhattan appears to be just how he should be. And the snapshot of the scene from Vietnam that's featured in the trailer... well, that works.

To be fair 300 was slavishly loyal to the source material. This looks too to have a genuine reverance for the graphic novel.

IF that is the case how can they go wrong ? Thats the one mistake people have made with Alan Moore adaptations to date...why DO you need to change it ?

Absolutely - and I like the way that they've (cleverly? cynically?) included a few key shots in the trailer that map to key images in the book (John's intrinsic field being removed revealing the layers of flesh snd bone, the comedian going out of the window). Must see, definitely.

I'll be very disappointed if they leave out "Tales of the Black Freighter" but the trailer does look promising.

apparently they will be releasing an anime film of it in conjunction with the cinema release.. it's one of my favourite comics to be honest (and it's just a subset of another comic)..
