Well, that was dark...

Between them, Catherine Tate, Bernard Cribbins and Joseph Long really made their scenes work. Billie Piper... well, she improved a bit as it went on, but her acting in the first few Rose scenes just seemed... clumsy, I guess. Maybe it's just me.

Poor Donna. Her future's not looking so bright, is it? But, oddly, I do actually trust RTD to write a halfway decent exit for her.

Not too impressed by the visuals for the beetle. Was expecting something a little more alien and/or creepier.

I didn't actually miss the Doctor much, which probably proved it worked.

Too Much Wolf, btw.

As for the stars going out... I'm not going to immediately ridicule the physics/timings. I'll save my ridicule  for  the episode when they revisit it,  just in case they do have an explanation... :)

Daleks. Many daleks. Heh.

They'd better get Davros right, if they're using him. That's all I'm sayin'. :)

I thought 'This is a wonderful episode of something. I'm just not sure it's Doctor Who.'

I'm generally quite happy for the yearly Doctor-light episode to be something a bit different - Blink, for example.

It think it's partly there as a change of pace, a chance to step back before the end-of-season blockbuster... ?

The biggest problem I had for it was re-using Bad Wolf. No, we don't want to be reminded of the huge fuck up you made for the end of season 1 finale. RTD's pretty good at setting up epic series endings, just terrible at finishing them off.

So, whatever happens next, Donna does the "merge with the tardis, become uber-powerful, and Fixes Everything", yes? :-/

It's amazing how they've managed to actually create Dr Who and make the Doctor nothing more than a plot device or a McGuffin.

Contractual obligation - US series used to do this when they'd run out of money/scripts - let's do the old Jimmy Stewart thing. Tired and crap - this is how low Doctor Who's gone. Even John Nathan Turner didn't resort to using naff tricks like this!

Although it's worrying when you prefer it without the Doctor.

Well after twenty mins of *in south london accent* DOOOONNAAA! ROOOOWWWWSSSEEE!!I got a bit bored, I wanted sci-fi not a soap opera. There was 15mins worth of very unoriginal plot drawn out to 1 hr. If I had a penny for every peice of sci-fi were somebody from an alternate time line fixed the "real" time line while I wouldnt be rich, I could afford to by a DVD of some decent sci-fi that wasnt a mother fisking soap opera. Who ever wrote it should fuck off back to writing eastenders where they belong. Please can i have some Darleks.

Ohh did i just rant oopsie.

It was all a bit RTD. Except that last bit at the end from when Donna says she's ready until Rose tells her just two words.

I don't mind the Bad Wolf thing. Were there references during the show or was it all just at the end? Looking forward to next week, but then I'm a sucker for cross-overs.
