No. Where do you think you are, any country except this one? :/

Public transport cancelled due to costs.
Buy a car and contribute to John Prescott's perks instead.

Locally or nationally?

Both seem to suck, unless it's Cov's Number 21, which runs every 2 minutes or something stupid (particulary when all the 'woodies' already have a nicked car and no driving license!

Come to London - we're due to get a partially working one, for the Olympic Games No Local Wants (the rest of London has the Non functional version as all the Money being extorted via the congestion charge is going on olympic related crap).

Cov itself isn't too bad - unless you need a 31 or 34 bus at a useful time of day, as the recent changes have messed them up...

When I posted this I was trying to get from Cov to Bristol and failing, as there were no trains getting there before 1:30 on a Sunday...

Cov's is diabolical - especially when you consider Zurich, a city with the similar population, has:

a) Metro
b) Trams
c) Trolley Buses
d) Buses
e) Taxis
f) Trains

and 10% of people using their car for local journeys.

Coventry has

a) A poor set of bus routes (That keep getting messed up)
b) One main station; two suburban ones (One of which is fairly inaccessible as it was built to service a long gone factory.)
c) A railway line that links major commuter areas WITHOUT a single station. (All removed in the 1960s)

and something like 80% of journeys made by car. (Not to mention the city itself was zoned after the war and has no real central business district - it's all spread over business parks in the suburbs.)

I could use a bus to get to work but.
a) They only run at limited times.
b) Change required.
c) Journey time of over an hour (Car - 15 minutes.)

Coventry has lost out because the money for the West Midlands has all gone on funding the Brum tram system.

All the government are doing is penalising drivers constantly with dumb regulations about car parking, building terrible junctions and bus lanes, and not offering any funds to make any viable networks. Coventry comes under "West Midlands" Transport plan, which is joke - as Coventry's not even part of the conurbation! They either need to put up the cash to actually do something or just admit they really don't give a stuff and stop making using the car so difficult.
