The first band announcement for the excellent Beyond The Veil festival (Leeds) has just appeared on LJ.

So far they've confirmed Murder At The Registry (Germany), Violet Stigmata (France) and Zeitgeist Zero (UK).

It's March 25-27th. The Metropole hotel is a very nice venue, which is a short walk from Leeds station (and easy to find by car, too). It's going to be very good indeed. So are you going to be there?

G'wan. You know it makes sense.

Hm. Hmmm. I suppose any serious travel plans will need to wait a bit though until I see just how much of a record low the dollar can hit ;)

There is that. Not terribly good for travelling, I guess... :-(

Not in that direction, nope. On the other hand, it makes the States rather cheap for folks coming the other way. *ahem* ;)

There is that, yep. :)

Although we're currently hearing a few horror stories about the new security procedures, which may be well-intentioned but are a little offputting - I don't want to be routinely photographed and fingerprinted as an untrustworthy foreigner... :-(

Well, yeah, there's that. =( (I tend to forget about it, not having had cause to go through customs here anytime recently and not seeing what sorts of stupid hoops they're setting up for foreign visitors these days.)

As far as the procedure went I didn't have any problems with the photo/fingerprinting, although I don't like the Big Brother aspect to it. I think they took a dislike to me when I went in, though, because of my impractical haircut...

Subject to the usual guff about unemployment and health, I'd rather like to be there. Seeing as it's Easter Weekend, I might just buy a ticket & thus force myself to go.

Just think of all those fantastic potato-based products the Metropole Hotel has to offer. ;o)

Hmm.. Potato-products are good, but they have nothing on pastry! Especially the mightyness that be Steak Bakes!
*basks in golden pastry light* :)

(Thinks: clearly my interest in the goth scene must be waning when I'm more interested in the catering than the actual bands! :o)

I think it's a safer subject to stick to, i've heard of hash browns, I've not heard of the bands.. damn.. I am offically rubbish & out of the loop though.. :P

Any band with the word "zeitgeist" in their name must be worth seeing once...

Zeitgeist Zero are a faily new, fairly local up-and-coming bunch. I heard their first(?) demo CD, which had potential, and I'm told they've become a lot more polished since (heard good things about their live shows, too).

Violent Stigmata are... French. And that's about all I know, although the sound snippets on the site were interesting.

And Murder at the Registry are perky Deathrock-tinged joy. :)

Anyway, I think BTV is a lot like InFest in one way. You don't necessarily go because you know and like the bands... you go because you trust the organisers to choose bands that you'll almost certainlu enjoy, even if you've never heard of them.

Or alternatively you go to get drunk & attempt to suck people into your high maintenance web of doom (like a scary rubber-clad goff vacuum? hmm...) :) Erm.. i'm there for the bands though.. erm... honest.. yup :)

Does the Metropole Hotel do hash browns?

at breakfast, most certainly :)

That's no use if I have a special hash brown emergency in the evening. I stopped going to Infest because they stopped serving hash browns, you know! ;o)

with a 'problem' like that I think you need to carry your own emergency supplies. You could try a little campfire cooking in the carpark between bands perhaps.

Now you mention it, that's a fantastic idea. :oD

with a 'problem' like that he needs therapy... :-)

Although if we do end up with Dave cooking in the carpark, I want a photo! :)

"The All-Night Breakfast"... not quite as colourful as the absinthe ones but has photographic potential...in a gothic boy scout kind of way

is this the same Dave who is scared of his food?

That's him. Yup. :-)

I've never thought of Dave as scared of his food - he just had the misfortune to challenge it to a battle of wits.
See you at BTV III.
