Just to clarify...

Yes, I'd really like to see the whole damn Bush administration removed from office.

I'd like to see piety Blair and his friends out of Downing Street, too.

And while we're at it, can we replace Putin with someone a little less dubious, someone who doesn't just pay lip-service to democracy (and might have a few less apocalyptic ideas for dealing with Chechnya)?

It's not about America. Or at least not just about America - superpowers cast a long shadow, after all.

It's just that we live in volatile times and there are too many dangerous fools and/or ruthless bastards in high places at the moment - the world would be a far better place without them.

For that matter, the world would be a much better place if we just had some halfway competent political parties in opposition to them - the Democrats, to give them their due, at least tried. If the next UK election is that close then I'll be pleasantly surprised...

Nice sentiments - who would you replace them with?

Just Not Going To Happen.

We're talking about a country where, when you get outside Moscow, people long for the good old days of Stalin.

For the US, John Kerry would be a start. And it'd be nice to see Barack Obama as part of an administration in a year or two...

For the UK, either a real shake up of Labour or a Lib Dem government. Someone who's not quite so scared by the tabloids or so firmly welded to US policy.

For Russia, I don't really know. But NotPutin.

Generally, people who are a little less likely to use the military as anything other than a last resort and are see foreign policy with a few more shades of grey. A little more financial savvy and respect for human rights would be good too...
