I'm going to sleep now. I just don't have the post-Whitby stamina to stay up and watch the election results - especially as so many states seem too close to call.

I hope to wake up in a world that's elected John Kerry. We'll see. I can't say I'm entirely optimistic right now...

I had the same hope... and got up enthusiastically at 5.30... went to bed again five minutes later after realising that there is to be no new dawn for the world and the stupid ignorant swing voters in American (together with swathes of evangelical bigots) have decided that its a good idea to have their country led by the village idiot.

Stupid, stupid people...

what has got into them

even if you discount the war, how can you vote for a man which will cripple the US economically?

Hopefully he won't get any ideas about walking into Iraq.

Why is everyone shouting about them wanting all the votes counted? I mean all of the countries in Western Europe count all of the votes cast in their elections, so why are the Americans not willing to count every vote.

I think the way they vote is a bit of a joke with people being challenged at the polling stations, by people from one of the parties. It is all a bit odd.
