Stayed up to watch the by-election results and the Kerry/Bush debate. Kerry came across pretty well, imo - eloquent, not too dry, knew what he was talking about. Bush had his moments too, but mostly seemed to repeat the same "security, no wobbles, trust me" lines - and made it very clear that he thinks the President can't admit any mistake over Iraq (which isn't quite the same as saying that no mistake was made...).

Seemed a bit unhappy that the elusive Osama Bin Laden was mentioned, too. And kept trying to push the "Kerry flip-flops" line...

Whilst the early opinion polls suggest Kerry got the better of the debate, a lot of commentators appear to be quietly resigning themselves to a Bush victory. Still it's early days yet.
