From the BBC's article on the upcoming US elections and the vice-presidential candidates...
there was some raising of eyebrows when the Vice-President, Dick Cheney, strode across the Senate floor and told a Democrat to "Fuck himself".

Mr Cheney is widely believed to have lost the plot in recent months.
...I'm not disputing the truth of that last line, but it's still not one I ever expected to see in a BBC report. Heh. :)

The article is transposed from "From Out Own Correspondent", a documentary report series on BBC Radio 4.

One of the little known facts about UK radio regulations is that there is no watershed - you can actually swear at any time of day and it doesn't break any guidelines. Some of the afternoon plays on Radio 4 get very blue. It's just surprising because most other radio stations don't air swearing since their audience or advertisers complain.

Annoyingly, however, one of the quickest ways to get shut down as a pirate radio station, is to broadcast swearing. Ironically if you got a licence you'd then be able to swear on-air all day, provided you could find funding.
