So, this year's schedule is now online.

Damn. This is going to involve some hard decisions (as always).

Friday:

I'm curious about Gray/scale, so the Werk II is an obvious place to start the day - the only other venue opening that early is the Parkbühne, and that seems to be mostly goth-metal.

The question is... how long do I stay? I don't like Terminal Choice, but I'm keen to see Gothminister (at some point - and they're playing M'era Luna, so it doesn't have to be at the WGT), and I know nothing about the earlier bands - time for some research?

I'd quite like to see Suicide Commando at the Agra, though. So possibly I'll escape Haus Leipzig earlier and try to catch Leaves Eyes (who I currently know nothing about - cue yet more research) too? Might stay for Camouflage, but that depends how knackered I feel...

Update: - Leaves Eyes is the new project of former Theatre of Tragedy singer Liv Kristine. Website is here, and the mp3 clip there sounds very nice indeed. Ok, I'm sold on this one... :)

Saturday:

I could happily spend all day in the Agra. CombiChrist, [:SITD:], Funker Vogt, Covenant... although that would probably leave Fixmer/Mc Carthy in the teatime sanity break (spending all day in there - with a concrete floor and no seating - can do a lot of damage to your feet, so a break is always wise...).

The only really tempting things elsewhere are Spiritual Front at Haus Leipzig (...which is 9PMish, so could be still combined with an afternoon at the Agra?) and Clan of Xymox  and Diva Destruction at the Parkbühne... although having seen both of them more than once already, I'm probably not motivated enough to make it all the way out there...

Sunday:

Damn you! Damn you all! This one's going to be tricky...

The Agra has The Crüxshadows at 10Pmish, effectively headlining. But aside from them, there's nobody else I really want to see there... and they are playing the UK soon, right?

The Parkbühne has a few interesting names, too - Rotersand, Icon of Coil, In Strict Confidence.Rob's been playing Rotersand at Heresy, and they sound interesting... and while I don't feel that I must see the other two, they're always fun. Other bands there are Insekt and the Armageddon Dildos... I'm not really familiar with either one, but...

Or, in the bowels of the Moritzbastei, we have an evening-only line-up of Dust Heaven, In Mitra Medusa Inri and Absurd Minds. That's tempting. It's a very nice venue. And it might combine with a few pot-luck choices (or Rotersand @ the Parkbühne) earlier on...

...or with an afternoon at the Schauspielhaus, watching Dark Sanctuary (French goth-ethereal, a bit reminiscent of Seventh Harmonic) and Daemonia Nymphe.

The final tempting option is a bit all-or-nothing: to go out to Haus Auensee and enjoy what looks like a pretty solid line-up.Diorama, Melotron, NamNamBulu, De/Vision...

Sunday also has Sorrow, in a truly gorgeous venue. But the Völkerschlachtdenkmal is a bit out of the way, and (as ever) there's only the one band there that day. Bah!

Monday:

More awkward choices on Monday. The Agra offers a selection of Mittelalter music,  with Vivus Temporis, Faun, Schandmaul and (to close the festival) Corvus Corax. That's tempting, although the usual "spending all day at the Agra will kill me" caveats apply.

Monday at Haus Auensee seems to be mostly harsh EBM and power noise -Winterkälte are headlining, which is a definite bonus, but Haus Auensee is so distant that it's really all-or-nothing (it tends to reach capacity, so turning up late is a bit risky). Or, alternatively, Haus Leipzig has Coil and Naevus... but they're both bands I need to be in a certain state of mind for, so there's no point thinking about that this far in advance.

And the Parkbühne has The Tors Of Dartmoor, Komu Vnyz and Antiworld. Not sure I'll manage to catch all of them, especially not if I want to end the evening at the Agra, but it'd be perfectly possibly to start the day at the Agra, then wander over for the first two...?

Combined with a quick listen to a Leaves Eyes mp3, yep! I'll go for Leaves Eyes at WGT, then try to catch Gothminister in the UK (or at M'era Luna). Thanks!

Hmm. Gothminister for Whitby, anyone? :)
