I see http://www.morecambegothfestival.com/ has now been updated with details of the rescheduled event. Hmm. Wonder who'll be replacing Fiction 8 as the other headliner?
I think putting on the new bands in an afternoon slot, as well as having two nights of better-known bands, is a great idea. It might be a bit of a baptism of fire for the bands having to play at that hour, but after all it's not much different from playing an early slot at an all-dayer.
I'm not quite sure what they're doing with the 'sexy' theme of the second Final Fantasy event - is it part of the Sexy Sunday empire? Considering it's March, I bet at least one sensible person wraps up warm and goes as Vivi. :p
I'd agree - not sure there's any financial recompense involved, but it'd still be a good way to make an impact on a (reasonably) diverse audience early in a bands career. And you can bet that the usual Meltdown/Starvox/Kaleidoscope reviewers will be paying attention...
I get the impression that Sexy Sunday are no longer involved after the hassles caused by the recent cancellation - this looks like an attempt to fill the gap with something homegrown.
Oo, Sephiroth costumes. Though mightn't the bare strappy shoulder bits be a bit cold for March? Not that I imagine there'd be a shortage of people wanting to keep their wearers warm. :)
There has to be a way to do the FFVII bouncy fringes in fake hair, though the closest I've seen is this (http://www.wildilocks.com/fringes.htm) which is not very close at all. Most of the pictures of people dressed up as Sephiroth that Google pulls up seem to involve some kind of bad centre-parted wig. :(
