I've got a bleak dose of Whitby/goth nostalgia creeping up on me - I blame the bug and the weather, but that doesn't entirely help.

I miss the days when Manc/Ox/Cam/Cov/Brum/Soton goths seemed almost tribal, when ducks, courgettes and T-shirt slogans were the order of the day.

I miss the days when I could buy Manuskript CDs in a music shop in central Coventry, and you'd see at least half a dozen Coventry people on the train to/from any Birmingham gig.

[For that matter, I miss the days when there were regular Birmingham gigs, with a decent attendance and a great atmosphere to 'em - yes, there were some stinkers too, but...]

I miss the days when people actually danced in the Whitby Spa, damnit.

It didn't help that the only decent tunes I heard were just before the bands were about to go on, and thus the dance floor was covered with people about to watch the bands.

Hey, at least people actually watched the bands!
