An all-too-common occurence...

Friend #1 - "did you see what fdshdgg wrote about his flatmate?"
Friend #2- "....er, no, I'm on his friends list but it must have been filtered..."
Friend #1 - "er...ooops. Forget I said anything..."

IMO, it's always a good idea to mention that "this post is filtered" - listing exactly who it's filtered to may or may not be overkill. Your call.

But either is likely to help avoid the awkward situation where people on your friends list assume other people on your friends list saw the same posts they did...

[This is a general observation, and not intended to provoke paranoia from anyone who's friended me. Just in case you were wondering :-) ]

I've had similar things happen.
me: "What was that cryptic post you made the other day about 'I am really pissed off with someone'"?
person's boyfriend: "I didn't see that post..."
me: "whoops..."
*removes foot from mouth*
Although I hardly ever post anything custom friends that I don't want other people to see, I just made it custom because I don't think most people would be interested by it.

This is why I have always said who can see the post on the three or four occasions I've made filtered posts.

Unfortunately, because I do that, it also leads me to assume that Giolla can see anything I can unless I'm told otherwise.

I have frequently wished for a client that automated the tedious business of listing everyone who can see a filtered post.

Or you could just be like me and have no contact with the outside world, thus avoiding such uncomfortable moments.
