A few words about comics
Jul. 26th, 2007 11:30 pm...there's a lot of Warren Ellis stuff out today, isn't there?
Doktor Sleepless #1, which is a slow build but definitely looking interesting. Ellis himself has compared it to Transmetropolitan, which seems fair.
Black Summer #1 is actually part 2 of the story, following on from the prologue in issue #0. John Horus is a superhero. He deals with the criminals that the law can't touch... and he's just walked into the White House and executed the President of the United States of America. Nicely done, and with a last page twist that throws things in a very interesting direction.
Last, but most definitely not least, there's Crécy. I like this one. A lot. If it turns up on
scans_daily then I'm likely to be posting links, 'cos I think it's the best thing Ellis has written in a while. And it's completely different in style to any comic I've read in a very long time.
