Doctor Atomic
Jan. 23rd, 2005 07:06 pmDoctor Atomic - the new John Adams opera. It's about Oppenheimer and Los Alamos.
I suspect I'll be trying to go see this, although it'd be a bit much to justify a trip to the USA just for that...
Oddly enough, I've spent the last couple of days listening to Adams' first opera, Nixon In China, reading the news coverage on the BBC's showing of Jerry Springer and wondering about subjects for less tongue-in-cheek new operas. Although now that I mention that, I can't quite find the words to explain just where my thoughts were heading. Ho hum. Suspect I'll come back to this later.
