For no particular reason, I was about to post a "so, what are you listening to these days? Any good new music?" query to a local mailing list, in a vague effort to stir up some fluffy conversation that doesn't involve goth/trendy/alternative percentages. :)

But thinking about it, it'll probably get an equally interesting (and perhaps more varied) response on LJ.

So... what are you listening to, folks? What are your favourite albums/songs of the moment?

Go on, tell uncle Morph... ;)

Er, bands/songs/albums/singles...oh the list is endless...(Oh christ! - audience):

I Monster - Daydream in Blue; that really cool single, sounds 60's with a vocoded voice chorus...just love it!

Megadeth - The World Needs A Hero; I just love this band and the new album is damn fine. A real retyurn to form for the lads. OK a coupla songs could have been removed, but all told a good album.

Farmer Boys - The World Is Ours; A sadly overlooked German band. Have supported Killing Joke, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson and various other top bands, yet totally unheard of in Britain. Heavy and very melodic. Imagine Anathema, sped up a bit, not as depressing, with a little bit of nu-metal and Depeche Mode chucked in. World class!

Metallica & San Fransisco Orchestra - S&M; I've really gone off Metallica for a while, but this is tops. A symphony orchestra, and a live metal band. The results are bizarre, but incredibly good. One thing it doesn't sound is cheesy. Surprised the hell out of me!

At The Gates - Terminal Spirit Disease; Swedish Melodic Techincal Death Metal. Awesome. Just awesome.

My Dying Bride - Light At The End Of The World; Doom metal band. Top class album, and Aaron has started growling and screaming again. Much improved. Still love "For You" from "Like Gods Of The Sun".

That'll do for now.

Something about great about Nine Inch Nails that I have found very sparsely recreated <unless someone else has a suggestion?>
Will be ordering the "new" Halo Friday, just to get those other million remixes of La Mer :-)

Nothing wrong with a bit of vintage NIN - and the older stuff (Broken, Fixed, Pretty Hate Machine) is IMHO rather better than anything theyve done since anyway...
