Anyone interested in meeting up for an (earlyish) Saturday lunch in Coventry? Inspire, say, at about 12:30? Please comment if interested...
Humble apologies to
scarybex, as I'm now definitely going to have to drop out of the BrumGoth meal due to a slight case of London. Although it's now a Manuskript gig rather than a Sex Gang Children gig, which makes me feel a little better about it. ;-)
I must remember not to get distracted when cooking. Boiling the bones dry is not the best way to make good chicken stock, and it's murder on the saucepan too.
I've now realised that the KM .mp3s up on yahoogroups are complete songs, it's just that I have problems downloading the whole thing. Although the first half of Enter The Dagon seems to be the most interesting bit of the song, so I won't worry overmuch about that one (to be fair, it does start very well, so...).
The upg post confirming that The Nephilim have disowned the new album arrived about four minutes before Amazon's confirmation that they'd just shipped it to me. Luvverly.
I will be back in work a week or so after Whitby. Even if that means serving burgers or sweeping floors. I'll also have some decent burglar alarms installed by then.
Next week's Question Time is in Coventry. Panelists include Peter Tatchell, Terry Pratchett and Anne Widdecombe (an... interesting... mix). They're still looking for audience members. Heh. Just how tempting is that? :-)

Date: 2002-10-11 02:31 pm (UTC)Possibly - I have an accordion lesson at 11.30 so I probably wouldn't be there until about 1.00 anyway. Can't be more definite than that at the moment...∫

Date: 2002-10-12 03:47 am (UTC)Okay. I should be able to be there around 12.45. Inspire is the place across the square from where the Dome used to be, right?
(I've been on my own at Browns for the last 4 weeks in a row, so it should make a change in more ways than one)

See you there.

Date: 2002-10-12 05:44 am (UTC)Oh well, I suppose I can have something vaguely resembling a social life some other time. Doing anything Wednesday night?
The Nephilim
Date: 2002-10-13 05:40 pm (UTC)I just picked up a copy of Fallen, and, I must say, it greatly exceeded my expectations. Granted, as stated on the Nephilim official site, it is a collection of demos and incomplete tracks (with the exception of "One More Nightmare" and "Darkcell A.D."; "Subsanity" is an outtake from Zoon... though, IMO, if this track had actually been on Zoon, then the albums enjoyment value would have been greatly improved (the only tracks from that album that I consider to be of particular note are "Shine", "Penetration", and Zoon (part III) ).
However, this "new" material isn't bad. The release is a tad short (clocking in at around 40 mins), and it does seem a bit obvious that a few of the tracks are demos (the sound quality is certainly better than demo quality, but a few of the songs end rather strangely, as if the band hadn't yet figured out exactly how they wanted the song to pan out). The actual style used is a hybrid of Elizium-era nephilim (Carl actually sings most of the time on most of these tracks), and Zoon (heavy guitars, but mostly not as thrashy as Zoon).
In short, I'm enjoying it, and it was a worthy buy to me as I don't have the "One More Nightmare" single (though I would only want that for "Darkcell A.D.", which I do happen to prefer over the original), though I suspect that whatever official release The Nephilim decide to put out (if that happens) will be a bit more "fleshed out", but this will have to do until then (though Fallen really should be priced as an EP)
