From [livejournal.com profile] imago.

1 . What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?

On my father's side: my grandfather was Welsh/Scottish, with some German ancestors in there somewhere (except during world wars, when that bit was quietly forgotten). My grandmother was of Irish ancestry, but born and raised in India.

On my mother's side, there's more Irish and possibly more Welsh. It's all a bit vague, but we're fairly sure that my grandparents were the first generation to live in England.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?

Well, I've been to Scotland and (very briefly) Wales. I'd like to go back to Scotland again (I've still got relatives in Inverary, and I'd like to visit them one day), but I think Ireland's top of the list. I suspect I'll finally get to Dublin next year...

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?

India, I suppose (or, at least, large parts of India...). I would like to visit India, but I really don't cope well with heat and humidity. A trip to one of the cooler regions would be nice, though.

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?

No. Well, not unless you count the traditional smoked salmon feast in January. But that's not because I'm Scottish - it's because the relatives in Inverary always send us vast quantities as a Christmas present (and I like smoked salmon, oh yes...). :-)

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?

Grandparents, as far as I know.

No mention of Oundle, I see... ;o)

Nope. My father's dad lived there for a little while after he remarried, iirc, and one of my great aunts stayed there once he left... but nobody in the family was born there (certainly no direct ancestiors of mine, anyway), and its place in the family history is really very brief and minor...

Like I say - I've got five digits on each hand, the right number of toes (ten, evenly distributed between two webless feet), and I don't play banjo. :-)
