I had a surprisingly nice Thursday night. I was sensible and didn't go to the beer fest, but I did treat myself to a spot of comics shopping and a meal in Browns (where I ran into Vicky, who'd misplaced one of her lecturers, so we chatted for a bit).

Many good things seem to be out this week - Tom Strong (which is definitely back on pulp-inspired form) and Promethea, for two.

Oh, and I see that the complete Warren Ellis run on The Authority (1-12) is now being collected as an oversized limited edition hardback. Oh yes. :)

Hmm. Just thinking...

When did the last traces of politics and social commentary slip out of goth/industrial? (I don't think they were ever in synthpop...:)

And do we want them back? Looking back, there were elements of that there quite early on - SoM's Valentine, and every other NMA song, for starters.

But that was the eighties. Things were different then - you could do that sort of thing without being dismissed as a crank with an agenda, because everyone else was doing it too. But not these days...?
