Well, that certainly didn't go according to plan.

Friday night turned into a small-scale panic over gigs, Whitby, family and a dying Playstation2. Not really ideal, and best forgotten. I did try to go out and have a quiet drink with friends... but we didn't quite manage to meet up, and I was rather short on money anyway, so I had a quiet pint and wandered home again.

Saturday was better. I woke up early and made it into Browns for breakfast (which is always nice :), then wandered around town for a few hours. There was also a brief trip to Birmingham to buy a couple more Whitby tickets from one of the Tainted crew...

Saturday night was... confused. First, I was going to stay in and be good. Then Ant phoned and attempted to press-gang me into going to his housewarming. Somehow, that conversation ended up with me deciding to go to WF for a pint at Matt's (latest) leaving do, then gathering as many folks as I could and getting a taxi to the party.

What actually happened was that I got to the pub only to find Dave (no, not that Dave :) there, who told me I was a bit early and that people weren't there yet. This confused me, as he doesn't know Matt & co. Then the cogs slowly turned, and I remembered that this was the weekend that Alex & Sue were down from Scotland. So I spent the evening in WF with them, Dave & Judes and Doktor Pete, seeing not-very-much of Matt, and never quite making it to that party.

Sunday was.. tranquil. Lunch at Browns with Alex & Sue + mob, followed by a quiet wander 'round the new cathedral excavations (which are very nice) and my yearly ascent of the cathedral spire. It's now traditional, and it is a very nice view of the city.

If I ever start posting LJ entries to newsgroups for no well-defined reason, can someone please shoot me? No need to be humane about it, either.

*sigh*

Yes, it's yet another test. An old one, this time, from here

"Your distinct personality, The Black Knight, might be found in most of the thriving kingdoms of the time. Your overriding goal is to win. You approach each task or situation as a contest to be won strategically and efficiently. Because you can control your feelings, it is not unusual for you to charm, as well as successfully delegate tasks and responsibilities to the more emotional types. You are often concerned with what's in it for you. You seldom involve yourself in activities where you can not foresee a reward for your investment or effort. On the positive side, you can be analytically empathic and logically persuasive. On the negative side, you may be unemotionally manipulative as well as arrogant, selfish and impulsive. Interestingly, your preference is just as applicable in today's corporate kingdoms"

Analytically empathic? Arrogant, selfish and impulsive? Manipulative? Who, me?!

Ok, it's a fair cop, guv'nor. :-)

Hmm. Y'know, I really ought to cook up something like this myself. Perhaps a "Which Amberite are you?" one would be fun...
