I may have been grumbling a bit about health and washing machine trauma and stuff...

...but, y'know, life is good.

Looking forward to Whitby, to the arrival of a quince tree for the garden (a couple of days post-Whitby) and to the next phase of the house redecoration (spare room gets a new ceiling, replastered walls etc w/c 11/11).

[Any suggestions for good places to buy carpets in/around Coventry, btw?]

We've used Carpet Matters in Holbrooks over the last ten years. In fact there's a number of carpet places down that way (Holbrooks Lane.)

Thanks! I'm trying not to use Allied - they're in the centre of town and convenient, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the service/fitting last time.

This time I'm trying to get it right - whatever I buy will be expected to last for quite some time (as you'd expect, for a carpet, I guess).

We've never had a problem with Carpet Matters - they did most of our old house in Stoke and all the new one (And the living/dining room presented them with a challenge due to its width)... They have a huge selection of carpets as well. From what I remember, you have to pay the fitter separately. They always seems pretty good.
