Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride

Hmm. Enjoyed that. Much better than last year's Christmas special.

Season #3 trailer looks rather intriguing, too.

Daleks. A glimpse of something that might have been a competent cyberman. And a cat-man pilot who looked strangely reminiscent of the Dr Who comic's Freefall Warriors...

I couldn't disagree more, the Christmas special was really bad. I am sick of the one dimensional shouty sarf londoners who seem to make up the bulk of Russell T Davies 'Strong Woman' roles. The story made no sense, Sarah Parish's Lolth/drowess from beyond space and time was in the final analysis, crap and completely powerless. What kind of ancient and mysterious race gets its spaceships taken out by a tank? A crap one.

Tunnels to the centre of the Earth, Austin Powers anyone?
Feared creatures from beyond space and time, who looked very much like the Shadows from B5.
Torchwood being a plot macguffin, surely Torchwood must be passing into Scifi folklore as one of the most inept, unconvincing 'secret' organisations that has ever existed.

Daleks are Russel T Davies equivalent of the Rolling Stones, this will be their final episode, the one where they are all killed off, their final tour until next year.

Ah, but isn't it in the Doctor's current universe, where the cybermen/dalek attack thing happened? In which case everyone now knows all about alien invasions. Plus there's no "Torchwood" on this side anyway just flangy remains.

Terrible - watched about 30 minutes of the tedious chases, then gave up and had it on as background... another RTD "classic" piece of crap.

Sorry, I also fall on the whafuh? side of the fence. So our planet was formed by an ineffectual and near brainless race of shouty spider people? Okay, I can stretch that far. Just. She could have done with some animated sets of eyes though. Draining the Thames? draining the Thames?

There was some vaguely entertaining bits in the trailer for the next season. The Daleks making a comeback isn't a surprise though - they will never die.
The trailer for TW on the other hand...

Enough ranting! Merry Christmas ;)

Did I catch a glimpse of Mark Gatiss guest-starring in the new season? If so, I'm kind of disappointed, as I still think he should have been the Doctor. (Then again being a guest star first never stopped Colin Baker/Maxil...)

I quite enjoyed last years special. However, I agree - not bad. Catherine Tate was good, and would have made an interesting companion..

Personally, I really enjoyed the Tardis/Taxi chase - nice to see the thing actually flying....

I do hear interesting rumours about the role of the Face of Boe in the next series as well.
