While I remember (part 1)

Someone was playing Urban Golf by the Binley Road Kwik Save when I walked past at about 9PM on Monday. This scares me. Despite the recent article on urban golf in the Independent, I'd assumed it was mostly a hoax...

Still, I'm starting to think it has a great future ahead of it. Possibly as a Playstation extreme sports game, in a similar vein to the SSX snowboarding ones? It has potential... :)

What will it be next? Urban Rugby? Urban Motor Cross? Urban Archery?

They don't use real golf balls...

Wasn't this started by Jackass doing Urban Kayaking? They used to canoe in city ponds, waterfalls, fountains etc.

That just gives me the fear (not to mention making me wonder where they got the golf clubs from!)

And I somehow suspect that Urban SSX would lead quite rapidly to that favorite family game - 'Urban Suicide'. (I can see it on the ring road but i don't think coventry city council would be in favor of shutting the road!)

I did wonder about the clubs myself...

Well, yes. I was thinking more the other way 'round though - A PlayStation 2 Urban Golf game, where your indestructible avatar can play in the traffic to your heart's content. :-)

Possibly with the option to discourage police and/or maim competitors with a well-aimed four iron?

Spoilsport, I have a number of students who may just have believed me about my version! An exellent and quick way to reduce the appearence of the stupid gene!

Disclimer: I do not in any way believe that all students are stupid, I just don't ever get to deal with them!

As a rule, the ones who aren't stupid ask less question. Or at least less stupid questions. They're certainly less likely to ask the same stupid question five times...

-rolls- it sounds fantastic, if a little scary. I was trying to think of other country sports that could be ironically played in the city, but it seems we've adapted many already. I mean - who needs clay pigeons when you've rival drug dealers to aim at? ;-)

Like your idea of a Playstation version tho, mwahaha!

Badminton over the shelves in Tesco?
