Interesting to see that the backlash against synthpop/futurepop isn't just limited to the 'obvious' (trad) suspects...
"i still say fuck future pop, its old now, give it a rest, it will never leave its mark on the scene like the cure, fad gaget, virgin prunes, 45 grave, christian death, skinny puppy, 242, nitzer ebb, siouxsie, front line, etc etc did"
That's from Bryan Erickson, of Velvet Acid Christ. He may have a point.
Acually, I'm sure that the likes of APB, VNV and Covenant will leave their mark on the scene - the question is how many of those who followed them will (answer: the ones who brought something new and interesting to the party? :), and how many will just be remembered in the same way that a lot of the competent-but-so-uninspired Sisters clones are now...
Oh, and there's a new Velvet Acid Christ album (provisionally titled "Utopia") due in March, accompanied by a European tour. Rejoice. :)

Just give me decent music with some thought behind it, whether it's EBM/industrial or guitar-goth. Spare me from the tepid identikit stuff that acts as filler for too many nights/compilations...
