Ooops

You know those moments when you end up unintentionally shopping on the Internet? I think that just happened.

I now have a nice clear garden. Well, mostly. This means that I've been thinking about my plan for a herb garden - mint, thyme, sage, rosemary and sorrel are happily growing in pots now, waiting to be planted out. The chives are just sprouting.

And it's a bit late in the year to be planting/buying annuals, isn't it?

However, I've just ordered some winter savory, french tarragon, salad burnet and lovage. Heh. I has plans.

Now, this isn't just because I've been wanting to cook with lovage for a couple of years, but unable to find any - although that's an element. It's more that I want to actually make an effort to transform the jungle garden into something scenic and pleasant, possibly with butterflies.

This is a relatively long-term plan.  It may not go terribly well. Let's see.

People keep telling me this... :-)

Mint and sorrel are both a bit like that. The gardening books I've been using suggest getting a large pot, knocking the bottom out, and then burying it - or burying a square of tiles, edge downwards. If it's a foot or so deep, it should be enough to stop the roots from spreading...

Yep, they *say* that! ;)
